Strathisla. The Rare Vintage Range a selection of greatly aged whiskies, rarely available on the open market. They gain recognition for their unique flavours acquired through their extensive period of maturation.
Founded by George Taylor and Alexander Milton, it was originally known as Milton - named after the nearby Milton Castle. Strathisla was the name of the actual whisky produced and eventually became the name of the distillery.
Much of Strathisla's production is used for blending and the distillery is the home of one the most famous blends - Chivas Regal.
The Distillery the oldest in Northern Scotland and is cretainly a delightful distillery to visit as it has an almost fairytale quality.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Golden Yellow
Body: Full Bodied
Finish: Lasting with sherry wood flavours.
Cask Type: First Fill and Refill Sherry Casks.
Whisky Style: An elegant, mellow ,alt whisky - an after dinner dram.
Nose: Sherry with sweet vanilla notes. Aromatic - cut grass and leafy aromas.
Palate: Sherry and sweetness as before with a slow build up of smoke. Rich, resinous flavours develop. |
