Cubanola domingensis. From the Dominican Republic comes this, as we have discovered, rather handsome, beautiful and exotic shrub. With attractive, shiny foliage, we grew one on our kitchen window sill. Here, a couple of feet or so tall, it passed its time – almost unnoticed – until one day after a year or two it surreptitiously produced some tiny flower buds: these then just grew and grew before opening into enormous and rather gorgeous, beautifully perfumed, pendulous, trumpet-shaped, pale lime green blooms, each 8 inches or so long - far too big for the plant! Packet of 15 seeds. |
