7" Medium Azada. Backsaving Allotment Tools from Get Digging. GET DIGGING - FASTER, EASIER AND WITH A LOT LESS BACKACHE
** To see all tools enter "azadas" above and press "GO" **
Blade Width 7" - Blade Weight 2lbs - Handle 47"
The Medium Azadas (see also the 8" model) are all round tools ideally suited for most jobs in the allotment or vegetable plot. These tools will do most jobs done with a spade but faster, easier and with far less back strain.
* Clearing overgrown, abandoned land.
* Ground preparation/cultivating/hoeing
* Working manure into the ground.
* Trenching.
* Planting, ridging up and harvesting potatoes.
As with all the Azadas, the swinging action used allows you to work from a much more upright position and largely eliminates the bending and lifting action of the conventional spade or fork which results in so much back-strain. You also find you can cover the ground much faster. For example, when cultivating and preparing moderately weed infested soil, you can expect to cover around a square metre/minute - much faster than a spade, and when you go home you'll be walking upright!
"I have to admit I was sceptical when I first saw your Azadas but once having used it I now find it one of the most useful tools on the holding. So much easier and quicker than a spade which is now almost redundant, and it can be used for so many different tasks. I recommend the Azada to all visitors to the garden"
David Barker - Barker Organics, Wolterton Park, Wolterton, Norwich.
"At last I've been able to use my Azada even though the ground was still frozen on Sunday. It was amazing how effortless it was to dig in ground impossible with a spade. In a few minutes I had dug an area which would have taken a considerable time normally and left me with an aching back. These should be available on the NHS - it would save the country a fortune in back treatment! Have sent you another order."

Performance: Very Good.
Value for Money: Very Good
Verdict of Jean Vernon in her "Tried and Tested" column - Daily Telegraph Gardening Supplement, 9th March 2002
Model under test: Light Medium Azada
“It’s brilliant, in fact I haven’t touched my spade since I got it . . and so much easier on the back.”
Mrs Wood - Somerset
In Spain they are “Azadas”, in Kenya “Jembes”, Malasia “Chungkul”, from S. America to India to the Far East millions of people use these tools to clear, dig and cultivate the land. They have been used from time immemorial - ancient Egyptian drawings show them in use thousands of years ago. Incredibly, in this country they are practically unknown. Yet anyone who has worked with an Azada will tell you how much faster they are and how they alleviate much of the toil and backache associated with working the soil.
An Azada differs from a spade or fork in that much of the work is achieved by the impetus of the swinging blade. More power is applied with less effort, jarring to the wrists and arms is practically eliminated and, for many people the biggest blessing, backstrain resulting from working while bent double is drastically reduced. Azadas allow you to work from a much more upright position.
These Azadas are a high quality tool, with tough, durable solid forged steel blades and strong hardwood handles and the range caters for most needs. Try an Azada and see how much faster and easier the work becomes - your spade will soon be spending a lot more time resting in the shed!
I just wanted you to know how pleased I am. I have used it in the allotment, and it really is proving to be possibly the best gardening purchase I have ever made.
